About Us
Organisation History
Peace organization for Rural Development (PORD) is a Sudanese national NGO, non – profit, non – religious non – political, non – tribal and non – governmental organization. Founded in 2010 and registered with the Humanitarian Aid Commission HAC in December, 2014 in Sudanese Council of Voluntary Association- SCOVA, UN portal and recently registered to Sam.Gov with tracking ID: – T18TK73AD5Y5 at the country and state level as a national civil society organization with the aim to Empower Community by Promoting Peace, Development and Humanitarian Services to the most vulnerable affected communities and population facing poverty, suffering and humanitarian crisis as a result of natural or man – made disasters. Since its establishment, PORD has effectively and efficiently implemented developmental humanitarian projects and also provided emergency humanitarian assistance and rehabilitations to the most vulnerable affected population across West Darfur – Sudan. These humanitarian projects and interventions have seen great positive impact and difference in the lives of beneficiaries.

Our Vision
Our vision is to promote peaceful coexistence, development and empowering communities facing poverty and suffering as a result of natural or manmade disasters. Peace Organization for Rural Development (PORD) is fully committed to realizing this vision, that it is possible with the support of all relevant stakeholders and partners at the international and national level. This vision serves as a guiding principle to all PORD’s developmental and humanitarian initiatives in the Rural and urban areas where it operates.
Our Mission
Our Mission Statement is to bring PORD’s vision into action, by engaging all community groups in recovery and development activities through community participation approaches in close cooperation with stakeholders. PORD believes in making tangible contributions towards Peace, Development and Community Empowerment through undertaking innovative initiatives in the following sectors of intervention, Education, Health & Nutrition, WASH, Food Security & Livelihoods and Peace Building in West Darfur – Sudan.
Our Objective
1.To intervene in the areas of social harmonization and cooperation by mitigating negative social, environmental, and economic impacts.
2. To build capacity of the community in areas of social and economic
developments.
3. To team up with the other humanitarian actors in meeting the humanitarian needs of the communities who are affected by differing catastrophic conditions.
4. To initiate and develop long term and sustainable programs those seek to improve households with low income.

Projects Implemented with International Partners
- WASH PROJECT in partnership with UNICEF for 2 years with target beneficiaries reached 622,000.
- Health and Nutrition project in partnership with UNICEF for 2 years with target beneficiaries reached 852,435.
- Education project in partnership with UNICEF for 2 years with target beneficiaries reached 2,720 – school children.
- Education project in partnership with UNCEF, currently on-going with target beneficiaries 35,045.
- Livelihood project in partnership with World Relief since 2015 up-to date with target beneficiaries reached in the year 2023: 26,000.
- School Feeding program in Partnership with WR &WFP – from June – September 2022 in Geneina IDPs Camps, Alryad- Abuzer and Alhujaja.
- Enhancing Resilience through Improving Education & WASH services in schools in West Darfur, in Jabel Moon ,Sirba , Kerenk and Habilia Locality
from December 2021 – December 2022: in partnership with UNICEF. - Rehabilitation of Water Yard in sirba – Geneina and Habila Locality and VIP Latrine Construction in Sirba- Habila- Kerenk and Jabal Moon in Partnership with German Cooperation through UNICEF – from June 2022 – December 2022.

Our Strategic approach
Peace Organization for Rural (PORD) works in close cooperation with all local government entities, community stakeholders, community leaders, Youth and women representatives to build peaceful community co – existence and community development in West Darfur and beyond, by inspiring the local and rural communities with sufficient life changing skills to capacitate and empower their living. PORD seeks to see more peaceful and socio-economically advanced West Darfur, greater Darfur and Sudan.
Our Staff
Peace organization for Rural Development(PORD) has employed and retrained a team of staff with excellent programmatic, administrative and logistics skills that can be deployed to rapidly scale up responses to humanitarian development assistance and emergencies. PORD has the following number of staff.
- 8 Members of the Board of Directors.
- 29 Professional Operational Staff.
- 2 International Professionals who regularly providing consultancy.
- 900 Regular Volunteers.
- 12 Non-technical staff (Deriver, Cleaners, Guards, and Cooks).
